We start the fall session of our women's bible study on Wednesday of this week. I am so ready to get started! These bible studies have been an essential part of my spiritual journey for the last 3 years. I, like many of the women who participate with me, really miss it when we are between studies. There are many reasons why these studies are so special to me. Certainly, the main benefit is the structure that an intensive study provides. These Beth Moore studies that we have been doing have 5 days of homework each week, along with a video session and small group discussion on Wednesdays. And I definitely enjoy and benefit from the fellowship with the other women in my small group. My sisters in bible study sustain me, pray for me and bless me with their incredible wisdom. We often comment how our friendships are strengthened and deepened by participating in a bible study together; in this setting, we find an invitation to go beyond the surface of each other's lives.
Yet, I think there is something even more powerful at work than the structure and the fellowship. I think that 75 women meeting together and praying together, really digging into God's word on their own during the week and together on Wednesdays, talking about what God is doing in their lives and the lives of their families, talking about how they are trying to honor Him in the way they are raising their children and conducting their business....I think all of this absolutely delights God. I think He is thrilled to honor the promise that He makes in the verse for which I named this blog...that when we seek Him with all of our hearts; our individual and collective hearts, we will find Him! Over and over again, in new and exciting ways, we find Him. I think He desires nothing more than to unleash His Holy Spirit on this whole process and in the lives of each individual participant in a powerful, supernatural way. As a result of the Holy Spirit's presence in and among us, lives are being changed.
Wow, now I am really fired up!! Go God!! Can't wait until Wednesday!
